Tiny Dragon - Writing Prompt

You are the weakest mage of your academy, so weak that you even fail to summon a familiar. After another dreamed discussion with the goddess of magic, you’re surprised to find a tiny dragon curled up on your chest in the morning.

Now this isn't unusual because it's a dragon, it's unusual because I'm at the academy. They're like, super-banned here, enough so that there are specific magical protections specifically for the dragons.

This has happened to me before, back before I started going here, but before, I had also had 2 of the wingless dragons that I can't remember the name of. Probably the reason I failed that class. Those ones were the size of dogs, probably, and this one was not. This one was maybe the size of a cat, which is the specific size that they don't actually appear as. This is also a piece of info that was NOT ON THE TEST.

Ok, so, what do I do? There is this thing that is not supposed to be here based on all logic, and it is smaller than possible as far as I know, as well as having wings, which since all knowledge on dragons shows that smaller dragons do not ever have wings, is impossible.

How about we bring it down to the main office and ask them to deal with it? That sounds like a good idea and now it's gone. The dragon has disappeared. This is the least surprising thing to have happened. What I would not expect in this situation is for it to come back, since I had already decided in my mind that it was either my own hallucination, or someone playing a really confusing trick on me, in which case the dragon coming back would mean that whoever it is that is playing a trick on me would be very skilled at that specific spell, which is unlikely because I have no friends that good at any spell who would trick me specifically. That was a lot. But that was the explanation... of the logic that went through my head within 2 seconds.

Naturally, I cast light to look for the thing anyways.

And find it. Under my bed.

Eating what probably used to be a rat.

"Hey! Cut that out!" As soon as I say this I wonder why I said it. Why do I care? It cares, though, since it looks up at me, drops the tail of the rat, and baps me on the nose, then runs away. I collect the rat tail because it's probably a potion ingredient or something. As I stand back up, I see a note on my bed, which reads as follows;

"This is the Guy. You've been signed up for the Guy. He is a little Guy, so do not be scared to use your size to your advantage when dealing with the Guy. It is extremely important that no damage is done to the Guy, as the Guy is extremely-"

And then the dragon snatched the note out of my hands and when I tried to take it back, turned it immediately to ash.

Extremely what? Important? Dangerous? Aggressive? All of these are situations I absolutely do not want to be a part of. What I do know now is that this "Guy" being sent here was entirely intentional, and I was just grateful to have a familiar now. If it is technically a familiar.

Yes, I changed my mind about reporting it to the office. I will now lie about having summoned a familiar so they can't kick it out of the academy grounds. I can probably deal with it.

I grab the collar that was meant to go on my familiar months ago and write "The Guy" on the tag.

I then spend 5 minutes catching the dragon so I can actually put the collar on it.

It is time to bring it to class. People will probably not care. This thing better behave at least a little bit.

I feel like making a sequel to this eventually.
"Dragon" is a lot more loose of a term than you'd probably expect.
