People are not born with powers but must earn them through secret achievements. You randomly unlock one of the most powerful abilites

You've heard of DnD, of course, the game where you roll die for stat checks and such. There is only one other person with the power that I appear to have just gained, and they call themselves "The Dungeon Master". We need to begin with what achievement I did that gave me the power, and it was an insane turn of events.

The achievement was, naturally, "Roll the highest possible number on 1000 dice at the same time." This is almost impossible. It would take years using a machine to do it over and over again. The name of this achievement is "Nat 20".

I don't even work at a die factory. I tripped, and fell onto a big wooden box, at the top of a very tall building. I'd be falling for a good minute before I hit the ground. The box almost frictionlessly slid right over the edge of the building and I'd have stared down at it if I wasn't just about to do the same.

I caught myself for a good 10 seconds balancing, completely unstable, at the edge of a height that would 100% kill me.

Then I did fall. I spun around a lot, unable to keep myself in one position, and occasionally caught a glimpse of the box I had pushed off, which was about to hit the ground I think. I still had a bit of time to do... Something. Anything.

The box hit the ground, and a couple seconds later I see the achievement.

I need to explain what this actually does. It's insane. I'm alive now because of it.

With all that luck from the die that just scattered everywhere along the road, you'd think I probably wouldn't be able to roll any more high numbers, but of course, this power allows me to see and use my stats, like a DnD sheet. Magical dice appear in my head and I can hear a weird narration of what is happening sometimes.

"Damage from ground... woah, that's all 1s. 20 damage, somehow." I see my health lower, numbers ticking down to somewhere around 5 hp.

I hit the ground.

I am stabbed by many tiny pieces of plastic, but I don't care, because they saved my life. Well, I do care, it hurts. Not that I can feel much pain right now, I literally fell at least 200 feet, based on the damage, probably a lot more, based on how long it took. Not a lot of actual attention though. No people crowding around me. Maybe people have more fall damage immunity here.

Oh my god I need to find a hospital.
