You are a carpenter for a select community of vampires. You have been working with them for centuries, you just don’t know how to tell them your not actually a vampire.
I remember the day I arrived perfectly, like it was yesterday, though it was years ago. I remember nothing from before, but little bits come back occasionally.
I sat up and my first instinct was to reach out for something, not physically, but as reaching for a power I now have smaller connections to than I think I had before.
When I was asked if I wanted to do carpentry, a whole life I feel like I never had flashed before my eyes. I saw myself in that life, separate from whoever was living it. I remember my face in that moment clearly.
I've been a carpenter for years, and I've noticed that I do not age, and do not need to eat, though it is sometimes an enjoyable experience. I get a guilty feeling whenever I eat anything more than I would realistically need. I get the same feeling when I charge larger amounts for my craft.
But I found a person I had seen well over a century ago, who also hadn't aged, and I followed them, which lead me to a small, dark gathering area, where there was about a dozen people, half of whom I recognized. My light brown robe did not fit in here, they were all wearing black and dark red. Very formal attire, but they seemed to move very swiftly despite it.
They spotted me, and though there was a moment of confusion in their eyes, they were not hostile, in fact, they welcomed me in, claiming to be vampires, which I had only heard stories of, and never seen any proof that they existed. They offered me blood, but I refused, which made them more wary of my presence.
They often did the things that made me feel bad without even a hint of the same effect the actions would've had on me, but I stayed with them anyways, I felt that I would be in danger if I left, and felt pity for them anyways, since they had no other way of being.
One day, one of the vampires that probably trusted me the least came up to me and asked what I was. I said I didn't know, just that I wasn't human, and I wasn't a vampire. He left, unsatisfied with the answer, and disappeared into the shadows. I suddenly felt a sharp pain from behind, on my shoulder, and turned quickly to see that he had bitten into my skin, golden liquid coating his fangs, and he was very clearly dying.
I put aside my pain and tried to help, but I didn't know how to save a vampire. Before he closed his eyes, he mumbled something about me being a god, and "having Ichor". I started to cry, and shouted for help, but the others couldn't save him either. Golden blood ran down my shoulder, almost glowing, but I quickly covered it up and hid somewhere.
I have been making and repairing their houses for free for centuries now, and they allow me to stay with them for however long I want, I usually stay in one area for long periods of time. They don't actually need to be shielded from the sun, that bit about vampires is mostly untrue, since it was actually only very recently created for some reason, though the newer vampires that join still request full sun protection, just to be safe, which is understandable.
In one of the towns I've been living in, a full band got turned into vampires, not a very popular band, they called themselves the "Smoke Detectors" which totally made sense. But I was sent to invite them to the group, and they mentioned that their lead singer didn't make it through the transformation, definitely implying that I could fill that role.
And so I did. They called me "Jesus" for some reason, as a nickname, but it turned into the band name, which became "Jesus and the Detectors". This totally makes sense, even more sense than the first name. I've heard people refer to us as the J&Ds. We're not that popular, but everyone in the area definitely knows who we are. We had an actual smoke detector beep in one of our songs, and since they're on a regular timer, we had to get some really precise timings when we started to get the beep to line up with the song correctly, but after enough practice, we did manage to do it correctly, and the crowd went absolutely wild. It was perfect.
Somehow this has worked out perfectly, but we might need to break up soon, because people might notice that we don't age, it's been 30 years I think.
I have noticed others that seem to be like me, an instinct in my mind trying to get me to approach them, I passed by one of them in a Walmart, who was giving a speech to a group of mesmerized civilians, and he was wearing a Jesus robe and everything. He noticed me too, and we locked eyes, and I saw something important there, but I haven't seen him anywhere since.
And we are now here. The present. I'm staying at one of the vampire's homes, and I have some weird feeling, like the calm before the storm. Something is happening, and I don't know what.

This is canon. To a story you have yet to see. But it will be seen eventually.
There is more.
But not now.
